On behalf of the Rockin' the Gold event team, I would thank all of those that came out to participate and support the event.  It was a great success and with your help we were able to raise over $1,000 to help fund Canadian Olympic Curlers.  Please check out our photo page both on the website and on Facebook.  Good "Kurling" to you all!

Throw for Gold 07/03/2009

Hurry, Hurry Hard, Hurry.  Never did I understand why curlers were in such a rush to go somewhere because a game takes a while to play, they should know that.  But now I realize that they stress urgency in key situations where one extra sweep of the ice could help a rock onto the button and win an end.  If you have no clue as what those words are don't phret as next we'll explain the rules on the website.

2 weeks away from the event and there are still some spots available for a team.  That does not mean procrastinate until the day of the event.  Get your team in! Only 16 teams will be playing and in principle there are at least 20 that have expressed interest with first come first serve.  I would turn away my own mother (if she actually cared about curling and had a team ready to enter) if she was late on getting her team in.

And there are some great benefits for bringing in a team.  Your $80 team ticket goes to...

4 Free drinks for your team

4 Free pizza slices for your team

4 Free raffle tickets

Photo of your team

3 games minimum

chance to win the team only prizes (best dressed and winners)

Sign up your team today.  When you have your team registered please send us your team profile including your team name, motto, photo (optional) and brief background story.

Get to it! Also, check out our story that was featured on Generation GO

Less than one month till the event.  The team has been working at full steam to ensure every last detail is taken care of.  The other day we visited High Park Curling Club for another venue inspection.  We needed to make sure the place would be ready to hold the event.  Everything looked taken care of until I realized that our venue was completely open to Ninja attacks.  Luckily we installed the anti - Ninja security system so all is well in Curling Land.

And now for something completely different.  Many teams have been signing up and prepping their team profile so make sure you and your team get registered soon.

Tomorrow will be exactly one month until Rockin the Gold.  Everything is moving along with sponsors, donators and teams.  Already half the spots have been filled and we have received some fabulous prizes.  Our most recent donations include an NHL prize pack and Vitamin Water for everyone.  We also have decided to throw in prizes for the best dressed team at the tournament.  Be sure to get your team profiles into the webmaster Eric Allan eallan85@gmail.com.  If you haven't signed up yet do it today!

Exciting times at the Rockin' the Gold camp.  Two major sponsors have signed on to help make the event a great success.  Wellington Brewery has kindly stepped up by providing some of their delicious beer.  What does this mean for attendees? Cheap drinks! A few days later, Boston Pizza at the Dufferin Mall became the official food sponsor and will be bringing in a whole wack load of pizza.  What have we learned today? Inexpensive and delicious Beer + inexpensive and salivating Pizza = One Rockin' event.
